Bodrum
Bodrum is one of Turkey's longest established resorts. It boasts world class facilities inclding its own airport, and a wealth of history, most notably the Masoleum of Halicarnassos, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The resort itself long been a favourite holiday destination of the Turkish elite, and as such, there is a vibrant nightclub scene. The Bodrum peninsula offers a shoreline characterised by charming fishing villages with whitewashed houses, crystal clear water and welcoming breeze. No other area on the Turkish Aegean coast provides the visitor with the opportunity to experience traditional Turkish life only a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of a modern tourist centre.

Gümbet
Only 2-3 kms away from Bodrum, this place recently became almost a resort unto itself. It is named after Kümbet-these numerous white-domed cisterns in the area, featres one of the longest and most popular beaches on the peninsula. Gümbet is also one of the most popular water sports centres with water-skiing, windsurfing, parasailing, etc. available.

Bitez
Bitez lies 7 km west of Bodrum, in the bay next to Gümbet. The winds here are particularly favourable for windsurfing and several water sport operators are based here. There are numerous bars, cafes and restaurants offering a wide range of different foods. The beach is sandy, with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas for sunbathing. Away from the beach it is possible to wander through mandarin orange groves where oxen plough and life continues as before.

Ortakent and Yahşi
Ortakent and Yahşi occupy the bay next to Bitez following the peninsula round to the west. The longest beach on the peninsula is popular with families. There are several beach side cafes providing inexpensive meals and snacks throughout the day. The soil is very fertile here and olives, fig and mandarins are grown.

Turgutreis
Turgutreis is a small town on the western tip of the peninsula and named after the famous Ottoman Admiral Turgut Reis. This town is perfect for walking as it combines a compact town centre with several long sandy beaches. This part of the coast is favoured by professional windsurfers as the winds re generally strong. There are plenty of hotels, shops, bars and restaurants. Regular buses contact Turgutreis with Bodrum. It has one of the largest markets, which takes place on a Saturday, in Turkey.

Gündoğan
Only a few miles east of Yalikavak, a place that can really be called peaceful. It is a little village, which is still more or less unspoiled. Here in the north of the peninsula a fresh breeze is often there. The beach is long and sandy and there are sun loungers beside the cool, blue sea. There are plenty of hotels, shops, restaurants and bars.

Gümüşlük
Gümüş is the word for silver. Thanks to strictly enforced buildign prohibitions the sea front has kept its original appearance and photogenic village charm. This is and ideal spot for peace and quiet, with the added advantage of many excellent fish restaurants along the small waterfront, where you can sit comfortably next to the gently lapping sea. Gümüşlük has two sheltered bays, one of which includes the famous Rabbit Island. It is historical too; it is the harbour of the Ancient Myndos.

Yalıkavak
Yalıkavak has a small and busy centre with a harbour where visiting yachts and fishing boars moor together. The restaurants in the town centre and on the sea front are popular with woturists and locals alike. Here is a little beach, but there are plenty of waterside cafes from which to watch the world go by. Several buildings have been restored in the town.

Akyarlar
Here the marvellous of the Greek Aegean Islands (kos), only 5 kms away, can be seen. This has one of the safest and sandiest beaches on the peninsula. There are several cafes and a tiny harbour. It is the peninsulas southern most resort and maintains real tranquil charm.

Torba
This is a little village hiding in a charming little bay. Heading north of Bodrum, Torba is the nearest village. It is a relaxed and pleasant village. It is ideal for walking and there is a small path leading to the next bay. It is one the greenest resorts on the peninsula. The sea is shallow, clean and excellent for swimming. Ferries to Didim leave Torba Harbour across the Gulf of Güllük.

Türkbükü and Gölköy (Göltürkbükü)
These two fishing villages are often mentioned as one because of how close they are to each other. They are east of Yalıkavak. This delightful spot and are the favourite retreats of many famous Turkish artists, actors and entertainers who wnliven the many small bars and restaurants at night.

Konacık
Set in peaceful countryside and just a short drive from Bodrum. It is popular village steepes in traditional Turkish culture and ideally located to explore the beaches and water sports of Gümbet and Bitez. It is surrounded bu olive groves and is a tree covered backdrop. The ruins of Pedesa -one of the earliest settlements- can be found on the hilltop amidst a welth of natural scenery and wildlife.

Güvercinlik
Güvercinlik lies on the main Milas to Bodrum Road, close to the airport. The bay, protected by Sliah Island, offers wonderful opportunities for watersports. There are small local restaurants serving tasty dishes besides the sea.
